He might have chosen to attack Jem and Scout because they are more vulnerable and they are an easier target as they are children, where as Atticus is an adult who is obviously stronger.

I think that he figureed that this would be an easier way to get back at Atticus . He probably thought that it would also draw less attention to him if he did not fight Atticus, where if he was tohurt the children there would be no one to prove that it happened. I agree with Josh. It would have been an easier way for Mr. Ewell to get his revenge on Atticus. Also, if Mr. Ewell had have lived through the attack, and a trial was held in order to figure out what happened that night, most people would believe Atticus over the children. I disagree with the trial because they way people are treating Tom is unfair. If you put all the evidence covered by Atticus together, there is no way that Tom could have done what everyone assumes happened to Mayella. People in the Jury automatically saw him as guilty because it was a colored man against a white girl.

I would say that Tom was the most honest person in the trial and he should not have been convicted of his accusation, theevidence proved that he could not have raped Mayella. I think that Tom was found guilty because he was black and the jury didn’t even look at the evidence because he was black. The racial discrimination in the book also points to the fact that Tom was going to be convicted as soon as he walked into the courtroom. I think that what Mayella Ewell testified to the court was a story that she was making up as she went along because she would take pauses to think when she was answering a question or she would try to think of a way so that she didn’t have to answer the question at all. I agree with Davin. Although it would seem that Aunt Alexandra would be a good help in this family she really doesn't do a whole lot. Yes she attempts to teach Scout to be more feminine but Scout has no desire to change or become someone or something she's not.

I think that Aunt Alexandra living with Jem, Scout and Atticus is both a good thing and a bad thing. It is good that she intends to bing Scout up to be a proper young lady, but at the same time i think that her stubbornness and determination will eventually become a problem, and i cant see Scout wanting to listen to a thing that she says. I alsothink that she will restrict the ammount of things that Jem and Scout can do and she will try to take over the possition as the dominant parent and try to run the house hold. It is making life very difficult for the Finch family because their neighbors are constantly accusing Atticus for sticking up and working with Black people. I believe that this is more difficult for Jem and Scout because they are younger and may not understand all of the reasons for why people are saying what they do about their father.

Their family is saying the same thing and calling Atticus the like the shame of the family and stuff. I think that this would have been a very hard thing to deal with in this time period because of racial tension. It would have been considered socially unacceptable to defend a black person in a trial even though it was legal to do. I think that this would have been harder for the kids because they would be teased by their friends, and they are too young to realize the reason that there father was doing what he was doing. I think the upcoming Robinson trial is causing tense relationships with the Finches family and neighbours. Some of the Finches neighbours and family have gone and said that Atticus is a shame to the family and have said many other things that could be taken as insulting. This situation is harder for Jem and Scout than it is for Atticus because Atticus is more mature and knows how to react to the racial comments from town’s people. Jem and Scout think that they have to fight to defend the family name and to get the towns people to stop making bad comments about their family, especially about their father wanting to defend black people. I think they find the Radley place so interesting because they don't actually know anything about Boo or the other Radleys except what other people have told them about them. I also think that the children have crazy superstitions about Boo, its not possible for a person to live off of raw animal meat, especially that of a squirrel.
